C. Louis & Mary C. Cabe Foundation
A Brief History of the Foundation
For many years, C. Louis and Mary C. Cabe were active members of the Gurdon community. Through wise investments, primarily in the Southern Arkansas timber industry, they were able over the years to significantly increase their holdings.

In December 1989, Mr. And Mrs. Cabe established the C. Louis and Mary C. Cabe Foundation for the purpose of assisting charitable groups, schools and other qualified organizations in a quad-state area. Mr. Cabe's death in August 1990 was a tragic loss, especially in the Gurdon community, but his philanthropic character lives on in the Cabe Foundation.

Munro & Company, Inc
Munro & Company, Inc., was established in 1972 as the successor to New Hampshire-based Connors & Hoffmann Footwear Company's southern division, consisting of three shoe manufacturing plants, all in Arkansas.

As manager of the southern division, Don Munro had set up Lake Catherine Footwear in Hot Springs in 1960. In 1967 he added Addison Shoe Company in Wynne, and in 1967 built Mount Ida Footwear in Mount Ida. These three plants formed the nucleus of Munro & Company. They produced men's and women's leather shoes and boots for the major national retailers.
